Tales of a Traveler – Volume I

by admin on January 11, 2010

So, would you believe me if I told you that the voice behind this blog is practicing 24 hours of silence at a retreat in Costa Rica – and will be here for the next 2 months?  That a stable wireless connection and a big dose of self discipline to work while traveling could potenially keep me on the road long term (oh yes, and rather amazing people to work for)?  Well, believe it baby.  And, I might as well introduce myself to you all.  My name is Jessica and I am looking to make my mark in this world of blogging social twitter maniacs.  When I am questioned about what I do (which seems to happen daily) people are just blown away at the world that exisist just beyond their computer screen.  I explain it like this – When I get online to write, market or network – it is like I am walking into a giant nightclub, one where the music is pumping, people are dancing and my one and only job when I walk in is to find my friends and make new ones.  Except that, it is hard because there is so much going on, so much noise and while the external senses don’t seem to be affected too much, there is this overload in sensory information and input that is affecting everyone in the club, my job is to be focused and to make sure that I have something to say.  My peeps are getting hit on all ends – so I better bring it, and it had better stick.  Once I find my friends, it is importat that I listen to what they have to say as well, and not only listen – but share.  There are many people doing this, but the secret is to do it honestly and because you mean it.   People are a bit savvier than they once were, especially the up and coming generation.  They can spot a phone a mile away.  Now I am not saying that I am trying to NOT be phoney.  I am saying that it is my job to work with people who I can genuinely and honestly collaborate with.  Ones that resonate with the message I am putting out there.   This blog, the people and the message does just that.  They want more than anything to bring you the truth.  And, I am pretty much down with that.

So now, where were we…. Ah yes.  I am the voice of this blog and I am sitting on the top of a mountain in Costa Rica engaged in my first 24-hour period of silence.  It is pretty wild.  Let me give you a snap shot.  I am swinging in a hammock in an open air cabin where I can hear a waterfall out the right side window (although at the moment  I have my Ipod on shuffle and I have been grooving out to Lowrider, Desperado and J.S. Bach…..).  A kerosene lantern provides light and a 6 inch cricket just fell on my head and scared the living you know what out of me (but remember, mums the word).  For the next two months this is where I will be bringing you Beauty at Any Age – and we will be doing some amazing things with this blog.  First of all, we will will be bringing you a new travel column – a la ME!, with pictures and stories from the road – because if you really want to stay young, grab your Skin 2 Skin Care Face Wash, Scrub and Moistuizer and hit the road.  Nothing frees your spirit and makes your soul sing more than travel.  Seeing new things and experiencing different cultures makes you look at those fine lines in a whole new light.  You become more accepting of yourself as you accept the differences you see in others. We the will be highlighting more great products, people and doing a lot more giveaways like our current contest ongoing until January 25th with a Feel Good Fast,  to get you involved not only with this blog, but also with helping you to create your own network of great products and amazing people for you to link to.  Guest bloggers, Ken Simpson and Nickie Nicholas will bring you honest an honest and candid look at skin health and fitness repectively.  We will widen our circle of friends, so that when you walk into this crazy club called The Net, you always know you are welcome.

Oh yeah, did I mention from my new office (or shall we say perch) I can see more stars lighting up the sky than I have every seen in my whole life!

Another toast – raise your glasses please.  To 2010, to Beauty at Any Age is Beauty and to you, our friends.  We hope to bring you an exciting new way to look at the truth behind health, wellness, skin care and much, much more.
